I had a real, open conversation with my students recently. I’ve been noticing something in young people, a growing disconnection from faith, resistance to guidance, and a lack of willingness to submit.

So I asked them a simple question:
“Who would read a book for £1 million?”
Every hand went up.
I reminded them that Allah SWT has promised us Jannah in the Qur’an and that truly reading it, understanding it, and living by it is what guides us there.

Then I asked, “What’s your connection with Allah SWT?”

One student reluctantly replied, “We can’t see Jannah or Jahannam.”

I said, “Have you ever felt the wind? Have you seen it?”
That’s how we believe, we know it’s real even if we can’t see it.

Allah has promised us Jannah.

So I asked them what they would want in Jannah and they shared their dreams.

Then they asked me what I would want.

I simply recited:
إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ 🤍

This ayah gives me goosebumps.

Imagine longing to meet someone you’ve never seen only read about. Someone honoured, and known, yet only a few are granted the chance to meet them.

And then your moment finally arrives…

How would you present yourself?

May Allah SWT make us all the people of Qur'an and honour us with meeting Him.


One year, during a sermon in the month of Shaban, the khatib deviated from his usual tone. The 15th of Shaban was typically reserved for a sermon focused on the horrors of the Day of Judgment. The audience would be left shaken, with tears streaming down their faces as they trembled with fear. But that year, the Khatib took a different approach. 'Let us speak of mercy this time,' he said. The sermon still revolved around the Day of Judgment, but with a distinct twist. As before, the audience was overcome with emotion, but this time, it was not just fear that moved them – it was the longing to behold their Lord, to meet the Merciful One. The air was thick with the sound of stifled sobs, as if the very thought of this encounter had left them breathless. And in that moment, the balance was restored – the scales of fear and hope, of dread and longing, were finally evened out.

In line with the Quran's approach, wherever Allah SWT has warned of the Day of Judgment's terrors and horrors, He has also highlighted the beautiful culmination awaiting His righteous servants. This balance is intentional, ensuring that His servants are not consumed solely by fear, but also remain hopeful of His mercy and love. This equilibrium was further reinforced when I learned Surah An-Najm from Ustadh  Nouman Ali Khan.
He explained that 'the Day of Judgment is not just a day of reckoning, but also a day of meeting with our Lord. On this day, Allah will acknowledge and appreciate our efforts, as stated in the Quran, 'And that his effort will soon be observed' (Quran 53:40). Imagine the scene where your Lord showcases your every small effort, every struggle, and every sacrifice you made for His sake. The angels will be witness to your endeavors, and your Lord will proudly present your accomplishments to them. Your Lord will say, 'Look, my servant has sacrificed his desires for my sake. He persevered through hardships, maintaining his faith in me. He gave up on the warmth of his bed for the sake of my worship.' '

Reflect on the fact that Allah will magnify our small efforts through His mercy, displaying them to the angels. He will reciprocate our 'excellence' with His own 'excellence'.

This image balances Judgement Day's  daunting prospect with  a moment of anticipation and longing.  

Although the horrors of that day are indeed a reality, and the Quran has vividly described these terrifying moments to serve as a poignant  reminder for us, Allah SWT has also revealed the sweetness of that day. This is because, in addition to His fine justice and absolute authority, Allah is infinitely merciful towards His servants. He wants us to strike a balance in our attitudes and actions, and so, He has shared with us the promise of a day when our efforts will be acknowledged and appreciated. Human psychology is such that we intensely fear public shaming, but we also intensely desire public recognition. And when the recognizer is none other than our Lord, who wouldn't want to strive for that recognition?
In essence, Allah's mercy and justice are intertwined, and the Day of Judgment is a testament to this balance. While we should indeed be mindful of the day's horrors and strive to avoid them, we should also be heartened by the promise of Allah's recognition and reward for our efforts.

May Allah inspire us to strive for His sake, and may He grant us the strength to make efforts that will be worthy of recognition on the Day of Judgment. May He bless us with the reward of our endeavors on that day, and may we be among those who are praised by our Lord and His angels. May Allah enable us to strive towards Him and grant us the reward of our efforts on the Day of Judgment.

When kids are done with school for the day, especially when it is their first day of school, they will happily rush into their parents' arms who have been waiting for them. Some of the children may also come out crying a little bit. But they are all eagerly waiting to see their parents, and so are the parents to see their children.


Now let's see where my thoughts are going from there ...


Schools have opened again, and yesterday, me and my parents went out to pick up my 4-year-old nephew from school. It was his second week in Pre-K.


I was ready to record his reaction and facial expression when he sees us waiting outside, because we were there as a surprise for him.


His teacher walked with him out of the main gate, holding his hands, and then she let him go once she saw us standing there to pick him up. And at that point he was definitely very happy and excited (though I think he is a little happier when he sees his own parents). His face immediately brightened up when he saw us. And there was a sense of relief and safety in the way that he looked, because he knows that he is finally going home.


The other children who were coming out all had similar reactions. Their faces almost instantly changed after seeing their parents - because of how much happier they felt.


Some of the parents were also buying their kids ice creams from an ice cream truck that was parked near the school. Sometimes, parents also like to prepare a surprise or a gift at home for their kids when it is their first day of school, to make their kids extra happy.


So, after a brief moment, my mind got transported into the future and I started to recollect some of the verses of the Quran.


Like the children seeing their parents, the servants of Allah, when they are done with this life's great exam and they see their Lord in Paradise and even on the Day of Resurrection (may Allah make us amongst them), will be extremely more happy and their faces will become bright and radiant that Day.


And the angels at every gate will greet them in Paradise, respectfully saying to them, 'Peace be upon you for your patience. How excellent is the ultimate abode!' (13:24), and 'Enter it in peace and security' (15:46), and 'Peace be upon you, you have done well, so enter it to abide eternally therein' (39:73), and 'Enter it in peace. This is the Day of Eternity' (50:34).


And Allah will not reward His servants with ice creams and gifts. They will be rewarded with the greatest reward and even more than that as Allah says, 'For those who have done good is the best (reward) and even more' (10:26).


It's just a comparison that I made, but, obviously, the intensity of the feelings and experiences between the two are literally worlds apart.

Visiting the house of Allāh, or even just longing to be there, creates such an incredible feeling which causes the tears to stream down uncontrollably. The heart is at peace and gushes out all of its much carried contents before its Lord. 

If this is our state in visiting the house of Allāh or wanting to be there. One has to ask, what will it be like to see Allāh the Almighty Himself? 

Whatever we seek in terms of du’a and whatever is withheld and upgraded from amongst them. May it be a means of obtaining the ultimate pleasure of seeing Allah in the hereafter.

The word beautiful does not do justice to what the sight will be on that day. I cant imagine it, no one can, we are unable to comprehend the sight of Allah. 
it'll be worth it, everytime you lowered your gaze, or caught yourself looking and then repented sincerely and tried again to protect your gaze, everything will be worth it. 
How can eyes that have become numb to looking at haram, see Allah .I dont know. maybe thats showing how merciful Ar rahman is,He forgives to the extend that he will reveal himself to you after accepting your repentence.
