انا خلقنا الانسان من نطفة امشاج نبتليه فجعلناه سميعا بصيرا

إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ سَمِيعًۢا بَصِيرًا

Deep contemplation of Qur’an 76:2 reveals a profound principle for success in this dunya, the disciplined use of the ears and eyes. 

Allah made them the primary gates of trial! what we allow to enter the heart shapes our thoughts, desires, and actions. 

Whoever learns to see with restraint and listen with discernment masters the test, for guidance or misguidance begins with what we choose to look at and what we choose to hear.

May Allah ease our journey in this dunya#TrueSuccess ​

All we are is clay. Have you ever molded a bowl, or maybe a mini-figure with clay? Think about how soft, how malleable it is. When you hold it in your hands, it’s formless, pliable, ready to take whatever shape you decide. You can squeeze it, stretch it, smooth it out, press it into something useful, something beautiful, or something you just imagine. 

Now, think about how we’re kind of like that, aren’t we? We come from the earth—just like clay, molded into shape by the Creator. In the Qur’an, Allah tells us that He made us from clay. In Surah As-Sajdah (32:7), He says:

'Who made all things which He created in the best possible manner. And He began the creation of man from clay.'

That’s us—clay. Fragile, soft, humble in our beginnings, yet in the hands of Allah, we’re shaped into something incredible. Just as a potter carefully molds a piece of clay, He shapes us with precision, with love, and with purpose. Every detail about us, our strengths, our weaknesses, our unique qualities—all of it is crafted by Him.

But here's the thing: just like clay, we’re constantly being shaped. Not just physically, but in every part of our lives. The challenges we face, the lessons we learn, the people we meet—they all mold us, whether we like it or not. But here’s the beauty of it: if we’re willing to be shaped, Allah will mold us into something beautiful, something meaningful. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

'Indeed, Allah does not look at your outward appearance or wealth, but He looks at your heart and your deeds.'
(Sahih Muslim)

It’s not about what we look like, or what we have, but about who we are on the inside—our intentions, our actions, our relationship with Him. And just as the potter can smooth out imperfections in the clay, Allah guides us to refine our hearts, to become the best versions of ourselves.

We can’t forget that we came from something so small, so basic. Allah reminds us in Surah Al-Insan (76:2):

'We created man from a drop of fluid, then We made him a clot, and then We made him a lump of flesh. We then made him into a living being.'

Look at where we came from—a drop of fluid, a small, seemingly insignificant beginning. But look at what we can become when we allow ourselves to be shaped by the will of Allah. It’s a humbling reminder that everything we are, everything we have, is from Him.

And just like clay, sometimes we go through tough times—when life presses on us, when we feel like we’re being stretched or even broken. But it’s through these moments that Allah strengthens us. Just as clay needs heat to harden and take its final shape, we, too, go through trials that refine us. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:155) reminds us:

'And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits. But give good tidings to the patient.'

These tests, these moments of hardship—they shape us. They refine us. If we’re patient, if we turn to Allah for guidance, we come out stronger, more resilient. Like clay that’s been shaped and baked into something solid, we are made stronger through our trials.

So when you think about clay, think about yourself. How we’re soft, moldable, vulnerable. But also, how we’re shaped—by Allah’s hands, by life’s challenges, by the choices we make. And just like the clay that ends up as a beautiful pot or a well-crafted figure, we, too, can be shaped into something great, something purposeful, something beautiful—in the hands of the Creator.

All we are is clay, but in the hands of Allah, we are capable of becoming something far more than we could ever imagine. 

'And it is He who created you from clay…'
(Surah Al-Ankabut, 29:57)

May we always remain soft in His hands, ready to be shaped and refined by His will.
