En gelooft slechts hen die jullie godsdienst volgen, zegt: "Voorwaar, de Lieding is de Leiding van Allah en (gelooft niet) dat er aan iemand hetzelfde is gegeven als aan jullie werd gegeven, of dat Zij tegen jullie bij jullie Heer twisten." Zeg: "Voorwaar, de gunst is van de Hand van Allah, die Hij geeft aan wie Hij wil; Allah is Alomvattend, Alwetend.
Uitleg
These two readings amount to the same meaning, here understood as the objection of Madinan Jews to the Prophet (ﷺ) receiving revelation [Makki]. The translations will differ if this portion of the verse is understood as a continuation of what the Prophet (ﷺ) was instructed to tell them, i.e. “The true guidance is God’s guidance…”
