Vi fu certamente un segno nelle due schiere che si fronteggiavano: una combatteva sul sentiero di Allah e l’altra era miscredente, li videro a colpo d’occhio due volte più numerosi di quello che erano 1 . يَرَوْنَهُمْ
yarawnahum
“they saw them…”
The subject pronoun (third-person plural) refers to the army “fighting in God’s way” described just before.
تَرَوْنَهُمْ
tarawnahum
“you (pl.) see them…”
Here the second-person pronoun is used again after it appeared in “a sign for you (lakum)”, addressing the believers.

Spiegazione

These two readings amount to the same meanings, though various interpretations are possible. The implication is that the Believers at Badr were made to see the enemy as only double the Muslims’ forces, though in fact they were triple [Makki].

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
