What this ayah reminds me of is the fact that we won’t always come to the prayer with eagerness as we would anticipate. Sometimes, we have to drag ourselves to get there whilst other times, we are forced to make sujood in dire need.  But here, Allah (swt) reminds us that we need patience in our worship because it is not for the faint-hearted. Allah reminds us in the end of the ayah that He (swt) is with the Sabirin (The Patient Ones) - this is so we never give up. We rest, we slow down, but we never give up. Allah swt is ash-Shakur and He is the Most Appreciative of our efforts and nothing goes to waste with Him (swt)

Bismillāh.

Although the way I pray Ṣalāh is nowhere near perfection — genuinely speaking — I have always heard people say: “There is no barakah in life without Ṣalāh.”

Even while believing that with all my heart, I once made a duʿā’: that Allah ﷻ would allow me to truly understand this reality, yet never test me by making me abandon a single prayer. Perhaps, I thought, if I understood it deeply, I would cherish every ṣalāh even more.

Recently, though, something has been difficult. The feeling of khushūʿ — that awe, purpose, and love in prayer — has faded. My ṣalāh has felt… grim.

But the strange truth is this: the absence of that sweetness left me feeling so empty. It is a heavy feeling — one of the worst. Not only did I lose those emotions in Salah, put in my whole life. I literally couldn't take in information properly – I felt emotionally dead.
So I ask Allah ﷻ to make us truly appreciative of the favor of īmān.
I ask Him to grant us tawfīq to worship Him sincerely, and to fill our hearts with that feeling of completion when we stand before Him — longing for Him alone, wanting Him alone.

May He cleanse our hearts of malice and of every excessive attachment, so they may open completely for Him.

Āmīn. 🤲

Often times we feel quite alone but the truth is we never are. There's not a thing that a living being does, think and feel within the Universe that Allah does not have knowledge of. He knows all the wrongs and rights that are done.

Allah repeatedly mentions in the Quran that He Knows, He Sees and He Hears it ALL. Allah is Aalimul Ghaib (knower of the Unseen), He is Sami ul Aleem (All Hearing and All Knowing). 

"Whether you speak secretly or openly—He surely knows best what is (hidden) in the heart. How could He not know His Own creation? For He (alone) is the Most Subtle, All-Aware. - Al-Mulk 67:13-14 

"And with Him are the keys of the Unseen. No one knows them but He. And He knows what is in the land and the sea. Not a leaf ever falls but He knows it, nor a grain in the dark hollows of the earth, nor anything fresh or dry, but are in a manifest book." - Al-An'am 6:59 

The injustice done to you, the pain you feel in the depths of your heart thinking no one understands or no one truly cares, He does, He cares. If He could hear the cries of Yunus (A.S) (Jonah) who was stuck in the belly of a whale in the depths of the bottomless ocean can He not hear you? 

Yunus (A.S) cried out to Allah 

  لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

“There is none worthy of worship except You, Glory to You, Indeed, I have been of the transgressors.”

Had he thought to himself, I'm doomed, that's it, I'm alone, he never would have made it out.

O believers! Seek comfort in patience and prayer. Allah is truly with those who are patient. - Al-Baqarah 2:153 

I believe Allah reminds us often that He is aware so we are always concious of Him, so we have Muraqaba (watchfulness) which leads to Hayah, it's one of the most important branches of Imaan, to humble yourself in front of Allah, being shy in front of Him which then leads to all the other branches like Sabr, Tawakkul, Ihklas, Shukr, Kushoo and they all lead up to the highest level which is Ihsaan. To worship Allah as if though you see Him knowing fully that He sees you.

I was thinking about the benefits and blessings coming from my illness since  so long.

Lying on a bed having time to listen to Quran 
Reading stories of the noble companions of our Prophet peace be upon him.
Listening to my old  mother for hours.
Spending time with children .
Reading reflections from different scholars.
How can we thank Allah for all the  blessings he has giving us, even when we are sining!
His rahmah surrounds us all the time.🌺

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

Have you ever been in a position that you couldn’t find the words to say? You didn’t have the words even for yourself because no human can take away the pain that is in their or your heart.

But there is something which is such a comfort and it’s this ayah for me. It entails so much depthness and so much relief. 

Allah gains no benefit from our worship,
He gains no benefit from our prayers,
For He cannot be in need, He is the Creator, the bestower of each and every blessing. Rather, it is we who need Him, for absolutely everything. When life, makes little sense and even when it does the prayer isn’t an empty place, or empty gestures, it’s a standing, a bowing, a prostration to the King of Kings who has given us no need for an intermediary. An open door, your voice transcends and even when the throat and tongue make no sound those tears that fall down are understood and are witnessed.

And as you raise your head from your prostration you realise, you are not alone in whatever you are facing. You are under the observance of the Almighty. If you were to seek help from everyone in this world they could not help you the way He does, they cannot move your hardship the way He can, they cannot give your heart both strength and peace the way He can.

A little speck in His universe, He does not forget us, and He does not neglect us. Each one of us that turns to Him is very special. Slaves of God is the greatest title. 

So when He tells us:

'O believers! Seek comfort in patience and prayer. Allah is truly with those who are patient.'

Then, even the man who is lost in the lonely desert is not alone. God is with Him and He will anchor Him towards the best destination.  The prayer is our fortress. The supplication will receive attention and an answer better than we can imagine. 

We are most certainly never ever alone. 
Glory be to Allah Lord of the worlds. How can the prayer not be the greatest comfort?

Reciting this ayat alone is comforting even when you’re having the hardest of times. It feels like a hug telling you 'everything is going to be fine'. Whenever patience is said I’m sure everyone can remember one or two things they’ve had to be patient with. You might think nothing will work out in the moment you face a trial but, Allah himself saying he’s with the patient is so comforting. This is for everyone going through one thing or the other. Allah is with you. May Allah make it possible to pass the test you’re having. Ameen 

Beautiful reminder. SubḥānAllāh, truly, there is no greater comfort than knowing Allah is with the patient. May He grant you and all of us steadfastness in every trial, and make us among those whom He is with. Āmīn

O you, who is being trialed and tested… where will you go to find comfort?

O you, who is being trialed and tested… where will you go to find strength?

O you, who is being trialed and tested… where will you go to find elevation?

O you, who is being trialed and tested… where will you release all that which hurts your mind and heart? 

O you, who is being trialed and tested…. Where will you you find happiness and meaning?

O you, who is being trialed and tested… where will you discover a fortress that contains within so many blessings?

O you who is being trialed and tested…. The prayer is the pillar of strength to hold onto, to stand and find refuge and causes the heart to understand that the world is short and temporary.

If the standing before God, in this world carried direction  and  meaning, then surely the standing before God on the Day of Judgment will be much easier. 

We need the salah. The salah is His love and protection for each and everyone of us.

This is beautiful! it leads the reader to see Allah at the end of the tunnel, figuratively.

Today, I stood outside my primary (elementary) school with two of my small children. I stood outside the gates and saw the same pine trees that I used to love and look up in awe under which there used to be a bench. I remember my mother would stand sometimes at my playtimes watching and smiling at me from that gate.

I have spent just over 40 years of my life in the United Kingdom. The eldest child of immigrant parents who had no relatives. It was just myself, my parents and a young sister for some time. I closed my eyes and it felt as though, I have simply blinked my eyes and everything has gone by ever so quickly. It does so for everyone. A short life. 

Just 6 weeks short of moving to Canada with my husband and children. Some of this time that I was given, I didn’t understand the nature of life. Part of it is spent going through things to make you the person you are today. Everything, which befalls us even in our childhood contains His wisdom. Whatever and whoever you encounter there is a lesson you will learn. 

I remember bringing books from school that were about ‘Islam and Muslims’ to read at home. I learnt more and more throughout the years. I claimed to love Islam. Yet, as knowledge was discovered and revealed, I realised that we cannot escape tests and trials. Much of the time we don’t have much control over what comes our way, but what we do have control over is our response. Over the years, we realise who is in control and that if Allah SWT.

As I reflect back upon my life, there were storms sometimes huge and perplexing ones, but there were breezes of ease and help, all shaping me. Most of all, I am grateful He allowed me to recognise and remember Him to at least an increasing capacity than when I was young and small. That is a beautiful gift from none other than Allah SWT. 

In order to deal with the storms which are within our capacity we must accept His divine decree and we must look to the fact that  He has never left us. This should cause one to develop even more trust as time goes on, as perhaps sometimes the tests become harder and more difficult. Yet, Allah is always with each one of us throughout the journey of life. 

Isn’t that something to remember and to feel surely you are never alone? You can get through whatever you are going through because truly He is a call away. The clouds which carry rain, reveal the sun too which only brings the colourful and delightful rainbow. Trust Allah with whatever you are facing, it’s all part of His care and love for you. You cannot control whatever befalls you, but you can increase your love and trust upon Him.

I am writing my journey to salah and where I am at now...

It started when I was 11. Prior to this, for a very long time my practice was to sit at Maghrib time and recite surah ikhlas 3 times and make dua.
Salah started with Maghrib. Then added asr and isha and then duhr. When I started praying fajr it felt complete.
My mother was the one who pushed me into this habit and my father and uncle were living examples of salah in awal waqt. They treated 5 Daily prayer in a way that this is one of the most natural spontaneous things to do. It was part of them. Alhamdulillah for giving me a household where namaz was not a duty or pressure, rather the effortless part of daily life. May Allah accept them and bless those who installed this habit in them. I also watched them making dua after wudu and dua aftre adhan. 
So, it became my routine too. I pray because Allah loves it when we are regular in prayers and the surrounding helped me to the max.
I got into university, I used to pray in woman's common room or in lady’s dorm, if needed.
When missed, I still didn't start praying qada salah.
I don’t remember when I started that. I remember an Islamic speaker in BD once said on TV, there is no such thing as qada prayer. You missed one in time, pray it as soon as you get the opportunity to pray it.
After that I started praying the missed ones.
My prayer routing got disturbed when my daughter was born. My work, coming back home feeding her, then falling asleep. Sometimes I prayed in my mind imaging myself doing the postures while on my way back home.
With time Allah got me back to proper routing.
But my quality of namaz wasn’t that great. Regularity was there.
I migrated to Australia. I kept the routine. The first time when I was in a halaqah i cried. That in this country Allah made ways for me to be in an Islamic environment. For the first time went to the Masjid in Australia.
My mum got ill. Diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. My prayer got better, and more time spent. Life was pretty smooth until then. So, this was a time when I started to use my salah as a tool to ask things from Allah.
She passed; life moved on. My home got shattered at one point. My prayers got better again….. Again, as a tool to ask Allah to fix my life for me.
The next 7 years were stagnant. I kept praying. Praying ishtekhara but not with tawakkul. In my mind I was asking for a fix the way I wanted.
The mindset escalated fast after my umrah. I cried to the Almighty that I want to do my sajdah with Your hamd. Not just to ask for mundane things. I want to do your hamd and shukr in my prayers. Not sad prayers anymore.
My life situation collapsed further. Yet, in His majestic ways He gave me hamd in my prayers.
In my mind I was thinking if my troubles got resolved I would have my gratitude and that would make me say Allah's hamd. But that was just my own tunnelled vision.
Allah can do anything. Through all these hard times Allah dragged me closer, taught me to sit with Him in tahajjud, increase my prayer.
Over time, I started feeling it’s not just a routine ritual. It's a gift of peace. It's the connection, it’s my 'me time' with my Rabb. And I don’t want to miss any meeting with Allah.
My ishtekhara and tawakkul got better. I pray this gets better every single day as long as I live along with my imaan. 
Then I came to know after death, in barzakh, in our grave, we won’t be allowed to pray. I suddenly felt empty. Even when someone is a pious heart, dear to Allah, they won’t be allowed to do sajdah. I wont be able to prostrate before my Allah! Now is the time! Let’s not miss a single opportunity. Believers would give up the whole world to prostrate before Allah. How helpless one would feel when they can't do this! And the hamd took over my whole heart because Allah is allowing me to do this now.
The other thing that humbled me and strengthens my gratitude is the fact that, apart from salah being a form of conversation and gratitude towards my Rabb, this gives me the opportunity to recite His words. Allows me to reiterate conversation between Allah and our Prophet PBUH, as if I am present there witnessing the conversation and echoing with the angels Ash hadu an la ilāha illa-llāh wa ashhadu anna Muḥammadan ʿabduhu wa rasūluh.
I am sharing this not because I think my salah is 'good'. It’s no where near where it should be. I just wanted to say, the practice of regularity helps when needed. Allah opens doors in our minds when we ask for His help. And this lifetime is the only chunk of time we will utilise this beautiful gift. My dua for the generations to come and for all of us that we might be able to taste the sweetness of salah. May Allah help us get better at it every day. May Allah help us harness every opportunity to multiply the rewards of salah. May our salah is accepted by the Almighty.
