The chaos of Doomsday will shatter all, leaving humanity adrift. Yet, from its ashes, a new realm shall emerge, where only Truth holds sway, casting aside all falsehood. In our current realm, popular opinion reigns supreme, dictating the worth of things based on human whims. However, the Hereafter belongs to God, where His will reigns supreme. Here, actions are judged by their outward appearance, but in the Hereafter, their true essence shall be weighed. The sincerity of one's deeds will determine their significance, rendering insincere actions futile, despite their allure in this temporal world.

Al-Qari'ah الْقَارِعَة comes from Qara'a قرع, which means to strike in such a way that its sound causes panic in the mind.  For example, someone comes at night and knocks on the door. You are terrified, did the police come?  This type of strike is qara'a, which creates panic in the human mind.  Qariyah is the ultimate form of Qara'ah - a terrible strike, which causes panic in the mind.  A strike that breaks and destroys everything.

Resurrection will come through a great strike.  Just as everyone in the house is terrified when someone knocks on the door at night, so everyone will be terrified by the sound of this terrible strike. This catastrophic strike will start a catastrophe in the whole universe.

When we lie in bed at night and see how everything is shaking, realizing that the earthquake has started, we start running in panic.  A simple earthquake shakes our souls.  A few days of panic, when the rest of the earthquake will be.  But this is a minor earthquake, which may destroy some houses.  But on that day there will be such a terrible strike that the whole universe will begin the process of destruction. That would be an unimaginable event for human beings.  People today have no idea what is going to happen.

Allah gives 20 different names for the Day of Judgement in the Quran! About this, Imam al-Qurtubi said:
'Anything that is great has a many descriptions and names; this was part of the oral tradition of the Arabs. Consider how important the sword is to them, and how beneficial they would consider it to be in their lives. They have five hundred names for it! Because of how important the Day of Resurrection is, and how plentiful its terrors are, Allah, the Exalted, called it by many names in His scripture, and mentioned many descriptions for it' (Source: at-Tadhkirah).
