قيل يا نوح اهبط بسلام منا وبركات عليك وعلى امم ممن معك وامم سنمتعهم ثم يمسهم منا عذاب اليم

قِيلَ يَـٰنُوحُ ٱهْبِطْ بِسَلَـٰمٍ مِّنَّا وَبَرَكَـٰتٍ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍ مِّمَّن مَّعَكَ ۚ وَأُمَمٌ سَنُمَتِّعُهُمْ ثُمَّ يَمَسُّهُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Travelling is a profound way to connect with Allah’s signs.

I don’t just mean visiting historical landmarks or witnessing breathtaking natural wonders, but the very act of travelling itself.

Travelling is, without doubt, a privilege,  especially cross-border, as many do not have the liberty or means to do so.

Boarding a plane, settling into your seat, placing your bag in the overhead compartment, and buckling up in preparation for this enormous, whale-like structure to take flight, all of it calls you to recall Allah’s complete control and mercy. 

"so that you may sit firmly on their backs, and remember your Lord’s blessings once you are settled on them, saying, “Glory be to the One Who has subjected these for us, for we could have never done so ˹on our own˺.(Quran 43:13)

Feeling the g-force pressing you back as the jet engines roar to life, consuming fuel and propelling this massive body into the sky, carving white lines across the horizon,  is a vivid reminder of Allah’s power and His protection over fragile human beings travelling between worlds. 

One cannot help but think: it is He and only He who holds it suspended above the earth.

"مَا يُمْسِكُهُنَّ إِلَّا الرَّحْمَٰنُ"
“None holds them up except the Most Merciful.” (Al-Mulk 67:19)

And each time we land, as the tires touch the runway, we experience a glimpse of the same blessing granted to Nuh (ʿalayhi as-salam) when his ark came to rest upon Mount Judiyy:

“O Noah! Disembark with Our peace and blessings upon you and some of the descendants of those with you.” (Hūd 11:48)

And most beautifully:

“My Lord, let me land with Your blessing, for You are the best of those who bring to safe landings.” (Al-Mu’minūn 23:29–30)
Surely in this are lessons, and indeed, Allah continues to put hearts to the test.


May our travels always be a reminder of Allah's mercy and blessing upon us. Amen

Subhanallah! Whenever I get on a plane, I think about this. How huge and heavy metal is this by itself like a small village plus some of them even carry 800 passengers and the luggage! Oh Allah You are the one holding this entire massive thing up high in the sky over the clouds and make us travel from one part of the earth to the other without letting us feel the -60 cold outside nor the fear but joy for playing, watching, eating, sleeping, or remembering You! Oh Allah who am I not to worship You!
