واذا اردنا ان نهلك قرية امرنا مترفيها ففسقوا فيها فحق عليها القول فدمرناها تدميرا ١٦

وَإِذَآ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نُّهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً أَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُوا۟ فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا ٱلْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَـٰهَا تَدْمِيرًۭا ١٦

وَإِذَآ

أَرَدۡنَآ

أَن

نُّهۡلِكَ

قَرۡيَةً

أَمَرۡنَا

مُتۡرَفِيهَا

فَفَسَقُواْ

فِيهَا

فَحَقَّ

عَلَيۡهَا

ٱلۡقَوۡلُ

فَدَمَّرۡنَٰهَا

تَدۡمِيرٗا

١٦

Et quand Nous voulons détruire une cité, Nous ordonnons à ses gens opulents [d’obéir à Nos prescriptions], mais (au contraire) ils se livrent à la perversité. Alors la Parole prononcée contre elle se réalise, et Nous la détruisons entièrement. ¹

This form I verb can be understood in the sense of 'multiplying' or in its more common sense of 'commanding'.

ءَامَرْنَا

āmarnā

"We increase the numbers of the affluent"

The form IV verb specifically means to multiply.
