Often, we find ourselves in difficult situations where we feel on the verge of collapse. Disappointment overtakes us, and a sense of helplessness and uncertainty clouds our future, filling us with anxiety. 
In such moments, the story of Prophet Yunus (AS) serves as a reminder of faith and trust. Imagine being trapped inside the belly of a fish, surrounded by toxins that weaken the body. Similarly, we often find ourselves surrounded by toxic people whose harmful behavior drains us emotionally. We struggle to escape, feeling out of place. Then, the profound verse from the Qur'an comes to mind, and we are reminded to place our trust in Allah (SWT). 
Just as He granted relief to Prophet Yunus and brought him out of the fish’s belly, He not only rescued him but also provided healing. 
Likewise, He is our ultimate source of relief and healing in times of distress.

Indeed the power of tasbeeh is what we can not imagine

Do you feel like you're in a dark and lonely place because of some bad decisions you've made in the past? Reflect on the story of Yunus (a):

Things were going pretty bad - he lost when they drew straws on the ship, he was thrown overboard, he got swallowed up by a whale. He was all alone in the dark. It probably felt like a jail.

Maybe you're in a similar place in life.

What we learn is that in this desperate situation, 'Had he not ˹constantly˺ glorified ˹Allah˺, he would have certainly remained in its belly until the Day of Resurrection.'

Yunus (a) constantly glorified Allah. If he hadn't, that place would have become his grave. In one of his talks, Imam Fadel Soliman says: 'The whale can be seen as a jail where Yunus (a) could have ended up in forever. Or as a rescue vehicle that rescued Yunus (a) from drowning and took him safely to the shore.' 

Constantly glorify Allah, repent for past mistakes, and know that Allah has the power to completely transform your situation, just like He did for Yunus (a).

I came across a cartoon drawing that showed what different people were thinking when they looked at a tree. The business man saw finished wood planks, the lumberjack saw logs, the carpenter saw furniture, the child simply saw a tree. 

What would the Muslim's thought bubble look like in this cartoon? What are some things we can reflect upon when seeing a tree? 

- We can reflect on how the tree is in a state of ibadah at that very moment, prostrating to Allah in a manner that we cannot comprehend. 

- We can think about the story of Adam (a) & Huwa and the tree and reflect upon shaytan's goals to make us ungrateful and lead us astray.

- We can ponder upon the tree that cried when the Prophet's (s) minbar was moved.

- We can make dua that Allah protect us from the punishment of the Hellfire and the tree of Zaqqum that is there for the torment of those who reside therein.

- We can ask Allah to be amongst those who can see the thornless lote trees in Paradise.

- We can reflect on the story of Yunus (a) as he found shade under the plant that covered him after coming out of the whale.

- We can also ponder how that very tree we are looking at was once a small seed in the darkness of the earth and how it must have grown over the years with the blessings of Allah (soil, rain, sunshine, etc). And now it stands tall and provides shade and perhaps even food for humans and animals.

And how it, by the Mercy and Generosity of Allah, could be a way for the businessman to make money, provide logs for the lumberjack, furniture material for the carpenter, a tree for a child to climb...

A pleasure for the eyes of the passerby, oxygen for the lungs of humans, a place for a bird to build a nest and lay its eggs.

So next time you walk by a tree that catches your eye, stop and take a deep breath.

Take a moment to reflect on the beauty of Allah's creation, His signs, and say 'Alhamdullilah' from deep within.

We can rush past the signs and reminders all around us, just as we may rush through reading the ayat of the Quran. 

Or we can stop, breath & reflect on Allah's words and His creation while seeking His guidance with a receptive heart and an attentive mind. 

May Allah make us of those that reflect in a manner that is pleasing to Him. Ameen.
