Bismillah 

If there is imminent danger and if see our kids heading that way how do we act! We call them out loud or shout at them and some may even curse at them.  When I read this ayah the way Nooh ( as) addressed his son amazes me. 'Ya Bunnayya' Subahan Allah how gently and lovingly he is calling! 

We too wake up our kids for fajr or remind them to do some stuff like recite duas or Quran etc but what tone do we use!! If we are yelling at them or shouting at them then what impression does it leave on young minds. Reminding to do an obligatory deed is a good deed but remind them gently. 

In Quran in various places we read how prophets address their sons ya bunnayya & their dads ya Abati.. We need to learn this way of addressing.

Some people are kind towards strangers but very rude at home. From this ayah we also learn that we need to be kind inside our homes and outside too.. 

If we go to masjid and see anyone doing anything inappropriate then correct them gently. 

May Allah Al Lateef grant us the ability to be kind towards everyone. Āmēn

The Blessing of imam. Perhaps We do not reflect on this as much as we should. Allah Gives it to whomever He (Azzah wa Jal) Chooses. If not prophets (alayhim Assalaam) would have guided their beloveds.
Nuh his son, Ibrahim his father Muhammad (Alayhi salaat wa salaam) his uncle Abu Talib.
The heartbreaking scene of Nuh (Alayhi Assalaam) calling out to his son, is something to reflect on.
'My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims.'

Waves like mountains! Then how solid must that ship have been!

I've never appreciated this little detail before but Nuh AS must've been the greatest woodworker in history if he could build a ship that could withstand tsunami-like waves.

One of the reflections that stayed with me from Surah Hud is the story of Nuh (AS) and his son.

As the flood came and everything was unfolding before his eyes, Nuh (AS) still called out to his son:

“O my son, come aboard with us and do not be with the disbelievers.” (11:42)

And when his son refused:

“Today there is no protector from the decree of Allah except for whom He gives mercy.” (11:43)

I think about how much Nuh (AS) must have loved his son. Even in those final moments, he did not stop calling him, hoping he would turn back.

And when his son was lost, Nuh (AS) could not simply let it go. He turned to Allah and spoke to Him about his pain. The grief of a parent does not disappear just because they know the truth.

In today’s world, when so many young people are losing their faith, I often think of this story. We see the children, but rarely do we see the silent heartbreak of their parents. What they go through is unimaginable.

The story reminds me that guidance is ultimately in Allah’s hands. We can teach, advise, pray, call, and keep calling, but hearts are not ours to control.

May Allah protect us from the fitnah of our children, make them among the righteous, and grant us the wisdom to do our duty without forgetting that guidance belongs to Him alone.

Ameen.

I was thinking of how Noah (a) called his son to save himself. Even though his son could see the world around him in turmoil, he chose to ignore the call that would save him. Instead, he tried to seek refuge somewhere else.

This scenario reminds me of the call to prayer...

When the time comes, do we respond more like Noah (a), or more like his son...? Do we respond to the call, or do we drown in the dunya instead?

Parenting, Patience, and the Trial of Faith 
A Reflection on Surah Hud (11:41-44)

As I meet and talk with many parents, I often hear one recurring theme — the deep concern and sometimes despair they feel when they see their children straying from the right path. Even the most dedicated, loving parents, who have tried their best to raise their children with good values, find themselves at a loss when their children seem distant, rebellious, or lost in their own ways.

This brings to mind the powerful story of Prophet Nuh (AS) in Surah Hud (11:41-44), when his own son, despite Nuh’s years of preaching and guidance, chose to remain apart (مَعزِل) from the ark and the believers. Prophet Nuh (AS) tried again and again to call him, but his son refused, and ultimately, he perished with the disbelievers in the flood.

Reflection on Parenting:

1. Even the Best Parents Face Trials: Sometimes, as parents, we do everything 'right' — we show love, teach values, and lead by example. Yet, our children may still make choices that hurt us deeply, or worse, lead them down a path that seems impossible to turn back from. I’ve spoken to many parents who are exhausted and heartbroken, watching their children go through struggles that they can't seem to help them with, no matter how much they pray or try.


2. The Pain of Separation: Understanding مَعزِل
In Surah Hud (11:41-44), when Prophet Nuh (AS) calls his son to board the ark, he is told that the son was at a مَعزِل — a place 'apart from' the believers, 'isolated' and 'detached' from the truth. The word مَعزِل has deep implications. It doesn’t just refer to being physically distant, but it indicates separation at a spiritual, emotional, and even moral level. His son chose to stay away from the safety of the ark, and ultimately, this separation led to his downfall.

For many parents, this can feel like the hardest part — when their child seems isolated from them emotionally or spiritually. They may see their child drifting away from the values they've tried to instill, or following paths that lead them further into seclusion from what is right. It’s a painful feeling, almost like watching them being pulled into a place where you can no longer reach them.

3. Patience and Trust in Allah’s Plan

 I’ve seen parents who feel like they’ve failed because their child didn’t turn out 'how they expected.' But Prophet Nuh (AS) reminds us — even the most patient and devoted parent can face this trial. It doesn’t mean you haven’t done your best. Sometimes, the test is how we handle the pain of separation. It’s a reminder that we must trust Allah’s plan even when the results aren’t what we hoped for.

4. Never Lose Hope

Despite everything, Prophet Nuh (AS) never gave up on his son. He kept calling him, showing love, and giving him the opportunity to board the ark. I tell parents I meet — keep showing love, keep praying, and never lose hope. Even when it seems like they’re lost, Allah’s mercy is greater than anything we can imagine. We can’t give up on our children, even if the path seems hard.

My Own Reflection:

As a parent, I understand the feeling of hopelessness when things seem out of our control. But let’s remember, sometimes the trial is in how we respond — in our patience, in keeping our principles intact, and in our consistent efforts to guide them, even when it feels like they’re drifting away. We may not see the fruits of our efforts right away, but Allah sees it all, and He knows what’s in their hearts.

When I speak to parents, I try to remind them that separation — whether it’s physical, emotional, or spiritual — doesn’t mean the end. It can feel like your child is isolated (مَعزِل) from you and the right path, but Allah’s mercy and guidance can reach them at any moment. Sometimes, the greatest test is to continue guiding with love, patience, and hope, even when you feel detached or like they’re slipping further away.

May Allah grant all parents the strength to remain patient, the wisdom to continue guiding with love, and the hope that one day, in His infinite mercy, our children will return to the right path. Ameen.

Day 12, Answer 12, #AyahLookup ​ Challenge

One of the biggest trials and tribulations, indeed, 
Parents take bullets for their children, 
They give us sleep, 
They give up food, 
They give up convenience and peace of mind, 
All for their children's safety and security, both in the physical and spiritual sense, 

And to witness the demise of your own son in front of your own eyes, is definitely a big test! 
And you know that death for him is not a ticket to a better life, 
that he's not being martyred 
and that there will be no reunion in Jannah.. 

This is an example of a test that the Quran teaches us to seek refuge from, and plead to Allah that He does not put a burden on us that we cannot take: 
ربنا ولا تحملنا ما لا طاقة لنا به 

May Allah protect our children, Ameen!
May Allah make them a coolness to our eyes!
May He help us choose the best speech, the best advice, the best environments, the best education, the best role models (including us), so our kids become our companions and best friends in the dunia and akhera, ameen

AREN'T WE BEHAVING LIKE SON OF NUH (ALAYHISALAM)?

This Story is well known that is Nuh (alayhisalam) calling his son to embark the boat when great flood as warned by Allaah is about to happen.

His Son said 'I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water.' (Qur'aan 11:43)

But What happened we all know - He drowned

'And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned.' (Qur'aan 11:43)

WHAT'S THE MORAL OF THE STORY?

Never ignore the Warnings if it is coming from Allah and His Messenger. Son of Nuh (alayhisalam) thought what his father was saying may not happen or not immediately even if he can see clear signs. He clearly ignored the warning. Aren't we doing the Same? :(

How many times are we warned by Allah that we have to prepare for our Death, life in the Grave & for Aakhirah? We keep receiving these warnings over WhatsApp, Lectures, Emails, Facebook & so on. We keep behaving like Son of Nuh (alayhisalam). The sad part we know, what happened to him.

May Allah ﷻ  Al Qadeer give us an understanding of His message, warnings & act upon them.
