Allah Loves Those Who Repent 

'Indeed, Allah loves those who repent and loves those who purify themselves.' (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:222)

Read this again: Allah loves those who repent. Not just that He forgives them, not just that He accepts them back, but He loves them.

This is not just mercy. This is divine love—far beyond human understanding. When we sin, we often feel ashamed, distant, and unworthy. But look at the words of your Creator: He does not turn away from you. Instead, He waits for you. He calls you back with love.

The Doors of Mercy Are Always Open

Imagine a child who has wronged his mother. He broke something valuable, hurt her feelings, and then ran away, afraid of her anger. But the mother? She does not lock the doors. She does not reject him. Instead, she waits at the doorstep, longing for him to return, just so she can embrace him again.

Now, multiply that love by infinity, and you might begin to understand how Allah waits for you.

The Prophet ﷺ said:
'Allah is happier with the repentance of His servant than one of you who loses his camel in the desert and then suddenly finds it.' (Bukhari, Muslim)

Imagine being lost in a vast, deadly desert with no hope. Your camel—carrying your food, water, and survival—has wandered off. You are on the verge of death. Then, just when all hope seems lost, you see your camel standing before you, safe and waiting. Your joy would be indescribable.

Now, understand this: Allah’s joy when you return to Him is even greater than that.

The Sins of the Past Do Not Matter

You might think, 'I have sinned too much. I am too far gone.' But look at the most sinful man in history—Fir’awn (Pharaoh). He was the greatest tyrant, calling himself a god. Yet, even to him, Allah sent Musa (AS) with a message:

'Speak to him gently, perhaps he may take heed or fear (Allah).' (Surah Taha 20:44)

If Allah gave a chance to the worst human being, why do you think He will not accept you?

The Story of a Murderer Who Found Love in Allah

The Prophet ﷺ told us about a man who had killed 99 people. He thought there was no hope left for him. But when he sincerely sought forgiveness, he was guided to repentance. And even though he died before reaching his destination, Allah forgave him and welcomed him with mercy. (Sahih Muslim)

If a man who killed 99 people can be forgiven and loved, then what sin have you committed that is greater than Allah’s mercy?

Return, Before It’s Too Late

Do not let Shaytan deceive you into thinking, 'I will repent later.' Later is not guaranteed. The gates of repentance remain open until the soul reaches the throat. After that, it will be too late.

Come back. Run to Allah. Cry if you must, fall to the ground in sujood, let the tears cleanse your soul. Because the One who created you is not angry with you—He is waiting for you.

And when you do turn back, when you whisper that heartfelt 'Ya Allah, forgive me,' know that in the Heavens, Allah loves you.

You are not hated.
You are not forgotten.
Even when you fall short, make mistakes and then repent, you are loved by Allah.

Shame can feel overwhelming, like a wall between you and Allah. It whispers that you’re not worthy of His forgiveness, that your mistakes define you. But that’s not true. Shame is only a dead end if it stops you from turning back to Allah. If it leads you to repentance, it becomes the beginning of a beautiful journey toward His mercy.

Allah says in the Quran: 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.' (Quran 39:53). This verse is a lifeline, a reminder that no matter what you’ve done, Allah’s mercy is greater.

Repentance isn’t just about saying 'I’m sorry'; it’s about returning to Allah with sincerity. Start by admitting your mistake and feeling true regret in your heart. That regret, painful as it feels, is a sign of Allah’s love for you, it’s His way of guiding you back. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'When a believer feels regret over a sin, it is repentance.'  (Classed as authentic by Al-Albani in Sahih Ibn Majah)

Take that feeling and let it drive you toward action. Pray two rak’ahs for repentance, ask Allah for forgiveness, and make a commitment to avoid repeating the mistake. Allah doesn’t expect perfection, He expects effort. And with every step you take toward Him, He promises to come closer to you.

Shame has no power over a heart that has repented. When you seek forgiveness, Allah not only forgives but erases your sin entirely. As He says: 'And He will replace their evil deeds with good.' (Quran 25:70). Imagine that your shame transformed into blessings.

May Allah forgive us, purify our hearts, and guide us back to his light. Let our repentance bring us closer to him. Ameen.

There are moments when regret hits like a storm, and your mind gets stuck replaying the same mistakes over and over. You start questioning yourself: Why did I do that? What if I had chosen differently? This cycle of rumination feels endless, like you're drowning in your own thoughts. But let me tell you this, Allah’s mercy is bigger than any mistake you’ve made.

Allah tells us in the Quran: 'Indeed, Allah loves those who are constantly repentant.' (Quran 2:222). This means regret isn’t your enemy, it’s a sign that your heart is still alive, still seeking Allah’s forgiveness and guidance. But you have to let go of what’s already written. Regret should push you toward change, not paralyze you.

If Allah has kept you alive today, it’s because you still have a chance to rewrite your story. Don’t let Shaytan convince you that your mistakes define you or that you’re beyond hope. He wants to trap you in a loop of despair, but Allah calls you to move forward. As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'All the sons of Adam are sinners, but the best of sinners are those who repent.' (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2499; classed as hasan by al-Albaani.)

When the thoughts creep in, remind yourself: The past is gone, but the future is still open for me to fix what I can and grow closer to Allah. Focus on what you can control, your intentions, your actions, and your faith. Instead of replaying the pain, start making dua for healing. Ask Allah to replace your regret with wisdom and your sadness with peace.

Remember, no one is perfect. Even the most pious people made mistakes, but what set them apart was their reliance on Allah’s mercy. As Allah says: 'Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against themselves (by sinning), do not despair of the mercy of Allah.’' (Quran 39:53).

You’re not your mistakes. You’re someone who has the strength to learn, change, and move forward. One day, when you look back at the times you felt stuck, you’ll say, 'Alhamdulillah, I trusted Allah and kept going.' So don’t let regret hold you back. Instead, let it remind you that you’re still here, still loved by Allah, and still capable of becoming the person you were meant to be.

May Allah, replace our regret with peace, our mistakes with wisdom, and our sadness with hope in His mercy. Guide us to what pleases Him and keep us firm on the straight path.

Allah Loves those who continuously repent to Him.

Al Baqarah : 222 started off our Weekly Quran Dose (Week 3). 
I admired Ustadz Mohannad's modesty as he shyly commented on the topic at hand.
For a lesson to be taught Allah SWT, the most supreme Teacher, spared no feelings. 

Allah SWT talks about the most intimate relations to teach us to earn His Love by pursuing purity and also to constantly turn back in repentance. Marriage is one of the most challenging human relationships there is, where couples are constantly faced with challenges.
Thus, the need to constantly purify ourselves and to make tawbah.

SubhanAllah.

Ustadz challenged us to dig deep and ask ourselves what motivates us to continuously make tawbah.
My answer, again, is to look at the Prophets AS.

I remind myself that the noble and beloved Prophets AS made mistakes too.
From Nabi Adam AS to our beloved Prophet Muhammad SAW. 
Different types of mistakes in different generations of humans throughout the history of mankind.
The difference is that Prophets AS were given immediate rebukes and some very stern reminders.

I remind myself, also, that when the beloved Prophets AS slipped, 
they  immediately made amends, 
they re-calibrated, and 
they returned to what would please Allah SWT. 
they bowed in obedience to Allah SWT.

May Allah SWT grant us the ability to continuously repent to Him,
Aamiin.

HE الله عزوجل says towards the end of 2:222 'Surely الله loves those who always turn to Him in repentance and those who purify themselves.'

HE الله عزوجل is affectionate towards those people who sincerely repent. The word توبة itself means 'to return', but in the context of Islamic terminology it means 'return back to الله عزوجل'. We all sin and make mistakes - this is our human nature but الله عزوجل in his mercy even asked نبي صلى الله عليه وسلم to ask forgiveness for himself. We are not infallible - this is demonstrated by the نبيون رضي الله عنهم who committed actions that needed to be forgiven. What about us? This should make us reflect and think about our errors.

We need to be consciously aware of our mistakes, and we should keep a track of our actions to remind ourselves that we have sinned. This leads to a pathway of immediate repetence which will make us amongst those who constantly repent - as a result, الله عزوجل will surely ان شاء الله bless us with HIS affection and forgiveness.

It is important to understand that when الله عزوجل loves us - we have truly been blessed. Moreover, how should we, then, turn to الله عزوجل؟

1. Feel it within your core

2. Ask الله عزوجل for sincere forgiveness

3. We should feel pain and be remorseful for our actions. Make dua يا الله please give us the strength to not remain in a perpetual state of sin.

Also, يا الله make us amongst those people who are in a constant state of توبة and يا الله love us because of this reason. (These notes are taken from Dr. Haifaa Younis's Ramadan series).

May الله عزوجل guide us to act upon the امين. قران
