Truth is the backbone of the Muslim.

Truth is contained within the word Haqq. Allah commands us at various moments in the Quran to establish the Haqq on this Earth. (see: Al-Asr)

This ayah made me visualize putting the truth in a heavy, impactful ball. And then throwing it at the weak, crumbled wooden shack that is falsehood.

But what is the ball of truth? The very next verse:

وَلَهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَنۡ عِندَهُۥ لَا يَسۡتَكۡبِرُونَ عَنۡ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَلَا يَسۡتَحۡسِرُونَ

(Abdul Haleem)
Everyone in the heavens and earth belongs to Him, and those that are with Him are never too proud to worship Him, nor do they grow weary;

-Surah Al-Anbiya', Ayah 19

Or perhaps the Ball of Truth is the Qur'an itself. But then I imagine something more like a Meteor crashing through that same shack.

And the crumbling wall is all of the lies (rejecting a day where all our deeds are put on the scale?), deceptions (Pharaoh saying 'I am your lord the most high'), misnomers (son of God) that are all created and related by mankind themselves.

This is truly the blessing and mercy of the Qur'an. The revelation of Allah breaks down and destroys falsehood in one fell swoop.

Its up to us to heed the warning.

This reflection really brings this idea of hurling the truth against falsehood to life. JAK.

SubhanAllah, these are some really powerful ayahs. 

I had many thoughts when reading these today and I thought to share some of them here. 

One of the first thoughts I had when reading- 'And woe be to you for what you claim' is about philosophers with all of the preposterous assumptions they make about Allah. When I thought a bit more, it reminded me of examples in my own life that I've seen and heard with just average, everyday people and how it can become so easy to casually talk about Allah, dismissing certain things like Qadr or the afterlife which are absolutely central to our beliefs. Sadly, sometimes we can find these talks within our Muslim friends and family and this can be especially so when we experience difficult times when the shaytan can sense our pain and weakness and attempt to inflict doubt in us about Allah and His Wisdom. (May Allah protect us from this, ameen). 

My second thought: 

Allah mentions the angels in ayahs 18 and 19, telling us two qualities they possess. One- they are not of those who are too proud to worship Allah and two they do not tire of worshipping Him. 

These two qualities made me think of contrasting between believers and disbelievers. Of course those who come to know of the true teachings of Islam and disbelieve are demonstrating arrogance and thus refusing to submit to Allah. 

The second quality that Allah mentions reminded me of those who believe as even though we count ourselves as believers and try our best to submit ourselves to Allah, we are still human and cannot constantly be in the state of worship. We do get tired, and as I learned today in one of my psychology courses, our state of consciousness does not operate at the same level all the time. We are not always 'tuned in' into our environments and sometimes we find our minds wandering. I feel this is something that is especially true with all of our technological advancements and how spending large amounts of time on social media can actually shorten our attention span, and possibly impacting our focus in acts of worship like salah.

I connected this to the ayah earlier where Allah mentioned that the messengers He sent were humans- mortals like us and in need of food. Yes, we may not be able to be like the angels who worship Allah constantly but that is why Allah sent humans as messengers and prophets. They are to be an example for us and especially our final messenger (may Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon him). Allah is not expecting us to be like His noble angels but their example is given to show us that if you or I am not going to submit ourselves to Allah- He isn't need of us or any of his creation. There are those who do humbly submit themselves to Him. 

May Allah soften our hearts to readily accept His Guidance and make us of those who lovingly submit to His Decree, ameen.

Do you want to be in the category of those who are considered nearest to Allah, but feel sluggish and unmotivated? We've all been there! These verses are a wake-up call that push us to do better as we strive to reach our goal. 

Oh Allah, please allow us to be of those who are nearest to You!

We're past the half way mark, some are getting ready to give it their all in the last ten days and to do so much more, beyond what they expected. 

And some of us, may lose motivation to do anything beyond the obligatory. And it's hard to motivate yourself without an environment.  

The value of brotherhood is much felt during these times. But at the end of the day there are some that don't get tired of praising Allah. There's something that's always motivating them. Where can I find this? 

Is it the closeness to Allah that this verse is talking about? Do they seek it so much that it doesn't waver them if they're with good company or not. 
Quarantine or not, it doesn't matter to them.
So much so that Allah is praising them. 
Allah swt who Himself never gets tired of hearing His slaves and forgiving them. 

اللهم أعني على ذكرك و شكرك و حسن عبادتك
اللهم اجعلني من عبادك عن عبادتك لا يستكبرون و لا يستحسرون 
يسبحون الليل و النهار لا يفترون
