هذا عطاؤنا فامنن او امسك بغير حساب

هَـٰذَا عَطَآؤُنَا فَٱمْنُنْ أَوْ أَمْسِكْ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

Sometimes when I think of Allah, I often wonder about the things that I ask Him, that I keep asking him - to which some are not granted and often times I fall into despair. 

Other times, I think of his generosity. I think of how Sulaiman AS asked Him for kingdom. And in times like these, I cannot help but wonder, how generous must my Lord be such that Sulaiman AS asked him for kingdom. The mere thought does not even cross my tiny mind. Yet for Sulaiman AS, his Lord was generous and abundant enough to allow himself to ask for Kingdom, and it was granted eventually.

And then there's me - who still despair from duahs which are not granted.

Some lessons here:

1. If you give something up for Allah SW he will replace it with something better. Soliman AS sacrificed his horses after them taking him from the remembrence of Allah SW, and Allah SW replaced that by giving him control over the wind to transport him where he desires. Which method of transport would you prefer? (Note: horses are permissible to eat so his sacrifice was not wasteful nor was it transgression, rather it was as anyone would slaughter an edible animal for the sake of Allah SW)

2. After making tawbah, have high hope in the mercy of Allah and ask for what you desire and do not limit your expectations of Allahs mercy and bounty to only having your sin removed. Soliman made tawbah and immediatley asked for a kingdom the like of which no human will possess, and he gave him that.
