No se puede forzar a nadie a creer en la religión: la verdad es claramente distinguible de la falsedad1. Quien rechace las falsas divinidades y crea en Dios, se habrá aferrado al asidero más firme [el Islam], que es irrompible. Dios todo lo oye, todo lo sabe.

Imām Ibn al-Jawzī (d. 597/1201) summarized the scholars' opinions in his book "Zād al-Masīr" as follows:
The devil(s). [ʿUmar, Ibn ʿAbbās, Mujāhid, al-Shaʿbī, al-Suddī, Muqātil, and others]
Soothsayers. [Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, Abū al-ʿĀliyah]
Sorcerers. [Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn]
Idols. [Al-Yazīdī, al-Zajjāj]
