وإنَّما ذكر الله تعالى هنا هذه المخلوقات على جهة التوقيف ليقيم الحجة على الكفار فيما أنكروه من البعث؛ كأنه يقول: إن الإله الذي قدر على خلقة هذه المخلوقات العظام قادر على إحياء الناس بعد موتهم. ابن جزي: 1/2541.

We find  the word أوتاد ('awtad) also for example as  ​وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِى ٱلْأَوْتَادِ  in the Qur'an. 
Fir'awn who was know by his pegs because his large army of soldiers would march and when they camped;  pegs of the tents were seen driven into the ground on every side.  A tent is known by the most important element of the tent which is the peg, This is a feature of Arabic that you call something with its most essential feature or component. In classical Arabic , a tent is also called a peg. It's as if Allah is saying that you are able to pitch these tents , let me show you the kind of tents I pitch. And what are these kinds of tents :

وَٱلْجِبَالَ أَوْتَادًا
and the mountains as pegs?

Being illustrated in a manner only Arabic language does justice that what comparison do you have in your imagination to what Allah azzawajal is capable of! Subhan'Allah!

P.S :  Geologists agree that mountains have strong roots in the ground like that of pegs used to anchor a tent because of which it stands strong, firm and unshaken by the wind.

I was standing on the roof of a 13-story building, and then I looked below and saw how all the roads, buildings, cars, and the trees were intact and everything was moving smoothly. There were no sounds of sirens, gunshots, or missiles flying overhead and nor was anyone running around panicking for their lives.

But then, within seconds, I contrasted that visible scene in front of me with the exact opposite image of the destroyed homes and buildings and human bodies laying on the ground in different parts of Muslim countries as a result of the ongoing war.

That comparison made me more appreciative of the spaciousness and the vastness of the earth, which in itself is a bounty of Allah SWT, as Allah says: "And the earth We have spread it out; how excellently We do spread out!" (51:48)

There is so much chaos and destruction in certain parts of the earth, and yet I am standing somewhere where I am not feeling any of those horrible and tragic things happening on this same earth. Indeed Allah is All-Powerful and the Most Merciful.

A day ago, while I was riding my bike on my way to the university at 7:30 am, as I went through the highway I was reciting a part of Sarah An'Naba' specifically I stopped at ayahs 6 and 7
 { أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِهَـٰدࣰا (٦) وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَوۡتَادࣰا (٧) } [سُورَةُ النَّبَإِ: ٦-٧].

 And it happened that the sky was very clear up ahead, there was the empty highway, and over in the horizon, 2 huge mountains with magnificent scenery that I could just sink in its details for days. Despite the fact that I see this everyday, this time was different, this time was a time that had me to dive into deep thoughts, a time triggered emotions in me making me say Subhan'Allah, with all admiration, not one like the 33 Tasbihs we say after each Salah. It was one Subhan'Allah that came from somewhere deep in my heart while thinking, Subhan'Allah that made us this earth to cross vast distances without any trouble, Subhan'Allah who made these magnificent mountains places for a lot of people to take as a home, and a shelter, Subhan'Allah that created these huge amazing mountains with a (كن فيكون).
فسبحان الجميل المبدع الذي أبدع كل خلقه، والحمدلله على نعمه التي انعم علينا.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

I was having lunch with a friend. My friend is a convert to Islam and we engaged in discussion about her journey to Islam. I enjoy listening to the stories of converts and how they have found Islam, often usually without detailed knowledge of Islam itself. Things just make sense.

My homework is Surah An Naba for my class, so I proceeded to recite. It appeared to me that Surah An Naba is divided into 4 interrelated topics:

1) The debate/rejection of the meeting with Allah - The Day of Resurrection;
2) The such obvious blessings Allah has given to mankind that should be quite obvious to lead to the conclusion that there is a Creator who is most merciful with His Creation;
3) The description of the Day of Judgement and hell awaits those who denied their Lord and thus did not prepare for it; and 
4) Paradise for tbose who believed in their Lord, who were grateful for His blessings and thus follow His commands and also prepared and were assured of the Day of Judgment.

It was ayah 39 which made me pause and reflect:

'That Day is the ‘ultimate’ truth. So let whoever wills take the path leading back to their Lord.' 

I realise that a person’s firmness in faith will fluctuate but how can a person deny all these obvious blessings from Allah? With such blessings there must be a Creator. If there is a Creator there must be a purpose. If there is a purpose there must be some accountability.

This Surah even for those old and new to Islam should revive a person’s faith and love for Allah. It should make our hearts detach from the world and look and prepare for what is to come. 

Furthermore, no matter how far you have been away from the faith a person should ponder upon the blessings of Allah and feel it’s not too late to come back to Him and to prepare for the inevitable - The Day of Judgement.

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'Paradise is closer to one of you than the strap of his sandal, and so is the Hellfire.'

In the Name of Allah, the most Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

You are set to travel and you are so occupied by making sure you have all your luggage and passport. Perhaps you are a frequent traveller and you are used to travelling from one country to another. Nevertheless, you finally breathe a sigh of relief that you are in your plane seat. Then you look outside the window and say ‘el hamdulillah’ that you are finally seated. 

The plane starts to take off and all the people and buildings, trees and landscape gets smaller and smaller. Leaving everything behind. You are in ‘awe’ of the landscape and the insignificance of the busy life you have left behind. You are now amongst the clouds and you are awed by what Allah has created. The reality is Allah is just us close to us on the land as He is in the sky. 

We are so caught up in our daily lives, we are occupied by the insignificant and almost completely ignoring what is significant. To know Allah, a person must be grateful and observant of what He has created for them. Let go of that which serves no purpose or value. 

There is nothing more significant than Allah, these ayats each one of them after contemplation makes me feel that there is nothing but blessing upon blessing that is always surrounding us.

Our Lord is Most gracious and we must remember that He is observing everything. He is upholding everything. So trust Him, love Him and race to keep doing good. For the reality is we are all ‘travelling’ back to Him.
