He sends down rain from the sky, causing the valleys to flow, each according to its capacity. The currents then carry along rising foam, similar to the slag produced from metal that people melt in the fire for ornaments or tools. This is how Allah compares truth to falsehood. The ˹worthless˺ scum is then cast away, but what benefits people remains on the earth. This is how Allah sets forth parables.

I was going through some verses where Allah says that He wipes away the sins of the believers and rewards them according to the best of their deeds.
Then, after a little reflection, this reminded me of the parable in a verse which says that the scum and the filth on the earth's surface gets washed away by the rain that Allah sends down from the sky - and then only the beneficial things remain on the earth.

Indeed, the comparison drawn in this ayat is profoundly striking:
Consider the phenomenon of rainwater transforming into streams and rivers. In this process, there exists a layer of foam atop the water, which eventually evaporates into the air. Similarly, when metals are heated, they too produce a foam-like substance along with the valuable liquid metal, only for the foam to dissipate into thin air.
A parable contrasting truth with falsehood. The water being sent is divine guidance that is equally accessible to all standing beneath it.
