ووقع القول عليهم بما ظلموا فهم لا ينطقون

وَوَقَعَ ٱلْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِم بِمَا ظَلَمُوا۟ فَهُمْ لَا يَنطِقُونَ

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

I have been travelling back from a lengthy summer break; from the UK back to Canada. As with travelling and especially with small children when you are not in your own home the routine often changes. So, I was really missing contemplating the Qur’an in an environment of solitude. 

If I am away from the Qur’an, then I feel as though my fuel is missing in order to navigate life. Life starts to often become hazy without it, However, with contemplation of the Qur’an and applying the Qur’an in whatever predicament you might be in, the Qur’an will provide you with clarity and peace. So long as you are seeking it. 

I wanted to come back to something that would move my soul and it was the following ayats from Suratul Naml which caused me to pause and reflect. 

“Did you deny My revelations without comprehending them?”  (84)

Me:  I paused “Well yes I did try to contemplate and understand them and it was only because of You my Lord I was able to do so.”

”Or, what exactly did you do?” (84)

Me: “Now this is the part where I am awestruck and I need to read it again and again and again and again. When I have read it again and again, I ask myself ‘yes what is it that I have done?, what is it that I have applied or want to apply? And am I taking the Qur’an seriously and honouring the miracle, appreciating the kindness and mercy Allah has sent towards mankind and in respect to myself most of all?” 

Me: So I make Dua to ask Allah for His continuous help, for His constant guidance upon the straight path.

I recall the Dua which the prophet peace be upon him used to recite frequently:

Anas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would often say, “O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion!”

Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2140

Indeed we will stand before Allah, it is inevitable, but how will I stand before my Lord the Mighty and Majestic?  Will the Qur’an testify for me or against me? May it stand for all of us and it reflect in our hearts and our actions - Allahumma Ameen. Even, though the ayah feels frightening, I needed this for the One who advises you, truly loves you. 

Indeed Allah loves us. So I must take heed.
