Oh Allah, how You open hearts.

You know that prior to You guiding me to Islam, my heart was soft, but the emotions felt too big to handle, so I numbed it. By Your Mercy, You didn’t allow it to harden. It was distracted and heedless, hurting but hopeful.

As someone who was avoidant of emotions, You taught me how to feel.

You taught me how to use my heart to see and think.
To understand the world around me.
To know You a little bit more each d...

Bismillahirrahmanirraheem,

Just came across this Ibn al-Qayyim quote which reminded me of this ayat...

'One of the signs of someone who truly knows Allah is that they don’t grieve over what they lose, nor do they become overly happy with what they gain.

As a chronic patient with rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease, she experienced a condition known as Sjögren's(SHOW-gren’s) syndrome, where the glands responsible fo...

Growing up till most of my adult years, I am known to be emotional and highly sensitive.
I would cry at the littlest things. The littlest things can upset me.

Surah Al Hadid taught me that the One who sent down Iron is the same One who sent down Prophets AS and The Books.
If I follow my Prophet SAW and the Quran, I can steel myself from unnecessary emotions.
I learn to apportion and direct my emotions and put them rightly where they belong.

There are two emotions most humans will spend their entire lives avoiding or chasing. Many will avoid sadness and many will chase joy.

It's only human after all to avoid discomfort and pain and pursue comfort and happiness, though we know growth happens when we leave our 'comfort zones' and trials can lead to our greatest transformations.

Allah qualifies the two emotions of sadness and joy, which He tells us He has enabled us to feel in Sura...
