واحيط بثمره فاصبح يقلب كفيه على ما انفق فيها وهي خاوية على عروشها ويقول يا ليتني لم اشرك بربي احدا ٤٢
وَأُحِيطَ بِثَمَرِهِۦ فَأَصْبَحَ يُقَلِّبُ كَفَّيْهِ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَنفَقَ فِيهَا وَهِىَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا وَيَقُولُ يَـٰلَيْتَنِى لَمْ أُشْرِكْ بِرَبِّىٓ أَحَدًۭا ٤٢
وَأُحِيطَ
بِثَمَرِهِۦ
فَأَصۡبَحَ
يُقَلِّبُ
كَفَّيۡهِ
عَلَىٰ
مَآ
أَنفَقَ
فِيهَا
وَهِيَ
خَاوِيَةٌ
عَلَىٰ
عُرُوشِهَا
وَيَقُولُ
يَٰلَيۡتَنِي
لَمۡ
أُشۡرِكۡ
بِرَبِّيٓ
أَحَدٗا
٤٢
E foram arrasadas as suas propriedades; e (o incrédulo, arrependido) retorcia, então, as mãos, pelo que nelas haviainvestido, e, vendo-as revolvidas, dizia: Oxalá não tivesse associado ninguém ao meu Senhor!

Explicação

These readings are identical or complementary in meaning [al-Mahdawi]. Note that Ruways shifts from thamar in the previous ayah (18:34) to thumur here, perhaps intending both meanings.

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
