Readings
مُرْدِفِينَ
murdifīna
“a thousand angels right behind (you)” OR “a thousand angels followed (by more)”
The active participle indicates how the angels came in response to the Believers’ supplication, and stood behind them in succession. It may also imply that the number was not limited to one thousand.
مُرْدَفِينَ
murdafīna
“a thousand angels sent in succession”
The passive participle describes how the angels were sent by God to stand behind the Believers. It is also possible that it describes the Believers’ state when they receive this support.

Explanation

These readings convey several complementary meanings [Makki, al-Mahdawi].

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
