But if only you could see when they will be detained before their Lord! He will ask ˹them˺, “Is this ˹Hereafter˺ not the truth?” They will cry, “Absolutely, by our Lord!” He will say, “Then taste the punishment for your disbelief.”

أي:{ وَلَوْ تَرَى } الكافرين { إِذْ وُقِفُوا عَلَى رَبِّهِمْ } لرأيت أمرا عظيما، وهَوْلًا جسيما، { قَالَ } لهم موبخا ومقرعا: { أَلَيْسَ هَذَا } الذي ترون من العذاب { بِالْحَقِّ قَالُوا بَلَى وَرَبِّنَا } فأقروا، واعترفوا حيث لا ينفعهم ذلك، { قَالَ فَذُوقُوا الْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ }
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
