اذ دخلوا عليه فقالوا سلاما قال سلام قوم منكرون ٢٥
إِذْ دَخَلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا۟ سَلَـٰمًۭا ۖ قَالَ سَلَـٰمٌۭ قَوْمٌۭ مُّنكَرُونَ ٢٥

˹Remember˺ when they entered his presence and greeted ˹him with˺, “Peace!” He replied, “Peace ˹be upon you˺!” ˹Then he said to himself,˺ “These people must be strangers!”

Explanation

In both readings, this reply from Abraham (pbuh) to the angels may be simply the greeting of peace. In the second reading, it could also entail that he wishes to have no conflict with these strangers [al-Mahdawi].

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
