The disbelievers say of the believers, “Had it been ˹something˺ good, they1 would not have beaten us to it.” Now since they reject its guidance, they will say, “˹This is˺ an ancient fabrication!”
I believe that this Ayah is truly a reflection of the modern world and the Fitnah we are facing today. While the context (i.e. poor disbelievers vs rich believers) may be different, the mindset and attitude behind such comments pervades all aspects of modern society.
