45:14
قل للذين امنوا يغفروا للذين لا يرجون ايام الله ليجزي قوما بما كانوا يكسبون ١٤
قُل لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَغْفِرُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ أَيَّامَ ٱللَّهِ لِيَجْزِىَ قَوْمًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ ١٤

˹O Prophet!˺ Tell the believers to forgive those who do not fear Allah’s days ˹of torment˺, so that He will reward each group for what they used to commit.

Explanation

These readings amount to the same meaning, referring to Allah's requital of the unbelievers. Abū Jaʿfar's reading has several grammatical explanations, though the norm with the passive verb is to have its subject in the nominative (hence qawmun) [see al-Alusi].
