Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. His light1 is like a niche in which there is a lamp, the lamp is in a crystal, the crystal is like a shining star, lit from ˹the oil of˺ a blessed olive tree, ˹located˺ neither to the east nor the west,2 whose oil would almost glow, even without being touched by fire. Light upon light! Allah guides whoever He wills to His light. And Allah sets forth parables for humanity. For Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things.
As I reflect on this ayat over a period of 35 years since my shahada. I see the internal arena of the heart. How the light of faith can fuel our whole existence, bringing joy and guidance constantly.

I see this being played in the comments sections of social media platforms now; especially to the response of posts on the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
On the one hand the condition of the believer who has found the Light and is illuminated in Light. As opposed to those who are under layers and layers of shadows and darknesses.
