ان الذين امنوا والذين هادوا والصابيين والنصارى والمجوس والذين اشركوا ان الله يفصل بينهم يوم القيامة ان الله على كل شيء شهيد ١٧
إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلصَّـٰبِـِٔينَ وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ وَٱلْمَجُوسَ وَٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍۢ شَهِيدٌ ١٧
إِنَّﱋ
ٱلَّذِينَﱌ
ءَامَنُواْﱍ
وَٱلَّذِينَﱎ
هَادُواْﱏ
وَٱلصَّٰبِـِٔينَﱐ
وَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰﱑ
وَٱلۡمَجُوسَﱒ
وَٱلَّذِينَﱓ
أَشۡرَكُوٓاْﱔ
إِنَّﱕ
ٱللَّهَﱖ
يَفۡصِلُﱗ
بَيۡنَهُمۡﱘ
يَوۡمَﱙ
ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِۚﱚﱛ
إِنَّﱜ
ٱللَّهَﱝ
عَلَىٰﱞ
كُلِّﱟ
شَيۡءٖﱠ
شَهِيدٌﱡ
١٧ﱢ
Indeed, the believers, Jews, Sabians,1 Christians, Magi,2 and the polytheists—Allah will judge between them ˹all˺ on Judgment Day. Surely Allah is a Witness over all things.

We see previous themes from other verses reemerging in these verses (and ones following).

Allah is mentioning the risk of shaitan's influence, and earlier in the surat, we see examples of this risk: those who 'turn their necks in arrogance' and those who 'worship Allah on an edge.' Ibn Al-Qayyim mentions that God being The Witness means that He oversees everything and thus is witness over all of His creation, and so nothing escapes Him, not the slightest in their details, external or internal.

There a stark change in direction from previous verses speaking of those who are doomed to reminding us of the resting place of those who have iman AND inclined toward/do good deeds (an essential combination). I'm always struck by the love that Allah has for the prophet (SAW) when he defends His beloved messenger so vehmently in verses such as verse 15.
