This was the advice of Abraham—as well as Jacob—to his children, ˹saying˺, “Indeed, Allah has chosen for you this faith; so do not die except in ˹a state of full˺ submission.”

Readings
وَوَصَّى
wa-waṣṣā
وَأَوْصَى
wa-awṣā
“And he instructed/bequeathed”

Explanation

These readings represent two linguistic options for this verb (forms II and IV, respectively). Some understood the first to imply a repeated instruction from Abraham to his children. The second reading with alif accords with the Madinan Codex (muṣḥaf), while the other regional codices do not contain that.

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
