Readings
وَقَالُوا
wa-qālū
“And they said God has had a child”
قَالُوا
qālū
“They said God has had a child”

Explanation

The two readings amount to the same meaning, but the first contains an explicit conjunction to the previous verse. Ibn ʿĀmir’s reading (without wāw) accords with the Levantine codex (muṣḥaf), while the other regional codices contain the wāw.

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
