Readings
لَاتَّخَذْتَ
la-ttakhadhta
لَتَخِذْتَ
la-takhidhta
“you could have taken”

Explanation

These readings represent linguistic options and are identical in meaning; they are either both from the same root t-kh-dh (an Arab dialect meaning 'take'), or the first is form VIII from the more common ʾ-kh-dh [al-Mahdawi]. NB: in both readings, most reciters pronounce this with merged letters: la-ttakhatta/la-takhitta.

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
