Reflections on Surah Ar-Ra'd Ayah 31
ولو ان قرانا سيرت به الجبال او قطعت به الارض او كلم به الموتى بل لله الامر جميعا افلم يياس الذين امنوا ان لو يشاء الله لهدى الناس جميعا ولا يزال الذين كفروا تصيبهم بما صنعوا قارعة او تحل قريبا من دارهم حتى ياتي وعد الله ان الله لا يخلف الميعاد ٣١
وَلَوْ أَنَّ قُرْءَانًۭا سُيِّرَتْ بِهِ ٱلْجِبَالُ أَوْ قُطِّعَتْ بِهِ ٱلْأَرْضُ أَوْ كُلِّمَ بِهِ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ ۗ بَل لِّلَّهِ ٱلْأَمْرُ جَمِيعًا ۗ أَفَلَمْ يَا۟يْـَٔسِ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَن لَّوْ يَشَآءُ ٱللَّهُ لَهَدَى ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًۭا ۗ وَلَا يَزَالُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ تُصِيبُهُم بِمَا صَنَعُوا۟ قَارِعَةٌ أَوْ تَحُلُّ قَرِيبًۭا مِّن دَارِهِمْ حَتَّىٰ يَأْتِىَ وَعْدُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُخْلِفُ ٱلْمِيعَادَ ٣١
وَلَوۡﱨ
أَنَّﱩ
قُرۡءَانٗاﱪ
سُيِّرَتۡﱫ
بِهِﱬ
ٱلۡجِبَالُﱭ
أَوۡﱮ
قُطِّعَتۡﱯ
بِهِﱰ
ٱلۡأَرۡضُﱱ
أَوۡﱲ
كُلِّمَﱳ
بِهِﱴ
ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰۗﱵﱶ
بَلﱷ
لِّلَّهِﱸ
ٱلۡأَمۡرُﱹ
جَمِيعًاۗﱺﱻ
أَفَلَمۡﱼ
يَاْيۡـَٔسِﱽ
ٱلَّذِينَﱾ
ءَامَنُوٓاْﱿ
أَنﲀ
لَّوۡﲁ
يَشَآءُﲂ
ٱللَّهُﲃ
لَهَدَىﲄ
ٱلنَّاسَﲅ
جَمِيعٗاۗﲆﲇ
وَلَاﲈ
يَزَالُﲉ
ٱلَّذِينَﲊ
كَفَرُواْﲋ
تُصِيبُهُمﲌ
بِمَاﲍ
صَنَعُواْﲎ
قَارِعَةٌﲏ
أَوۡﲐ
تَحُلُّﲑ
قَرِيبٗاﲒ
مِّنﲓ
دَارِهِمۡﲔ
حَتَّىٰﲕ
يَأۡتِيَﲖ
وَعۡدُﲗ
ٱللَّهِۚﲘﲙ
إِنَّﲚ
ٱللَّهَﲛ
لَاﲜ
يُخۡلِفُﲝ
ٱلۡمِيعَادَﲞ
٣١ﲟ
If there were a recitation that could cause mountains to move, or the earth to split, or the dead to speak, ˹it would have been this Quran˺. But all matters are by Allah’s Will. Have the believers not yet realized that had Allah willed, He could have guided all of humanity? And disasters will continue to afflict the disbelievers or strike close to their homes for their misdeeds, until Allah’s promise comes to pass. Surely Allah never fails in His promise.

Sometimes when I open up my Quran and the book splits into two sides, with the binding in the center, I reflect upon the splitting of the sea and how this Quran in front of me is a miracle too!
We recognize that the splitting of the sea was a great miracle, but do we truly recognize the miracle that sits right in front of us?
This Quran has the ability to change your life, and the lives of those who journey through it with a receptive heart.

Reflect on this when you feel like your heart has become too hard to feel anything, or when the bad habits seem impossible to change, or when your soul feels dead:
'If there were a recitation that could cause mountains to move, or the earth to split, or the dead to speak, ˹it would have been this Quran˺' (13:31)
