فلما سمعت بمكرهن ارسلت اليهن واعتدت لهن متكا واتت كل واحدة منهن سكينا وقالت اخرج عليهن فلما راينه اكبرنه وقطعن ايديهن وقلن حاش لله ما هاذا بشرا ان هاذا الا ملك كريم ٣١
Maka apabila ia (Zulaikha) mendengar cacian mereka, dia pun menjemput mereka dan menyediakan satu jamuan untuk mereka, serta memberi kepada - tiap seorang di antara mereka sebilah pisau. Dan pada ketika itu berkatalah ia (kepada Yusuf): "Keluarlah di hadapan mereka". Maka ketika mereka melihatnya, mereka tercengang melihat kecantikan parasnya, dan mereka dengan tidak sedar melukakan tangan mereka sambil berkata: "Jauhnya Allah dari kekurangan! Ini bukanlah seorang manusia, ini tidak lain melainkan malaikat yang mulia!"
A few days back I was chopping some vegetables and I accidentally cut myself (Just a small cut Alhamdullilah, don't worry 🙂) I've cut vegetables for so many years that one would think I should be able to do it on auto-pilot without any issues. It made me reflect on the importance of being mindful. Not just mindful of our actions, but also of our thoughts. If we don't make a deliberate effort to be mindful of Allah, we put ourselves at risk.
inshAllah we will all have the beauty of Yusuf in Jannah. Wow-subhanAllah. The ladies literally accidently sliced their fingers when they saw him (عليه السلام). That's different level.
O Allah, we ask You for the Ferdaws level of Jannah. Ameen.
When mentioning the chastity and piety of Yousef AS, we should also remember that of Maryam AS who was sent an angel in the shape of a perfectly formed man while she was worshipping in seclusion. The first thing she thought of doing when seeing him was to seek refuge in Allah from him, as well as reminding him to fear Allah SWT. Now compare this with the women of Yousef AS who could not control themselves publicly while in his presence.
These are interesting verses to reflect on if you struggle with your phone and looking away from things that can harm your soul.
These women inadvertently harmed themselves when they were stunned by the beauty of Yusuf (a). I imagine they must have been shocked when they realized they had cut their own hands! They were set up with knives and something to catch them off guard, and they ended up harming themselv...
I want to reflect on these ayaat explaining an incident in the story of Yusuf alayhis salam, when wife of al-Azeez became talk of the town. It's mentioned in the Quran as,
'Some women of the city gossiped, 'The Chief Minister’s wife is trying to seduce her slave-boy. Love for him has plagued her heart. Indeed, we see that she is clearly mistaken'.
Aways remember, when you spend your time looking for faults in others and highlighting them, Allah saw can cause you to fall in bigger faults due to your arrogance. The woman mocked the Aziz's wife for her attempt to seduce Yousef As, but they ended up cutting their hands accidentally while admiring his beauty, and then proceeding to attempt to seduce him as well. And when Yousef AS, years later, mentioned the story to the messenger of the King,...
