The Quran gave stories to us for a very particular purpose: to guide humanity in what they need. Not to entertain humanity. Here Allah is telling us the best of all stories, so that we can relate it to our lives and seek comfort through them
'How beautiful is Surah Yusuf, it begins with a distant dream and ends with the dream becoming a reality'.

Quran tells us how Prophet Yusuf (AS) suffered a series of tests and trials, yet he remained obedie...

'We relate to you, [O Prophet], the best of stories through Our revelation of this Qur’an, although before this you were totally unaware (of them).'[Surah Yusuf (12:3)]

Anyone reading or listening to the story of Yusuf (as) knows that it is the best story they've ever read. The dream he saw at the beginning of the story was fulfilled at the end. In every part of his story, there is a deeper meaning...that's why Yusuf (as) said, 'Indeed, my Lord...

'The best of Stories...'

It is true, very few stories can combine all the diametrically opposing themes this Surah contains, in the harmonizing way that it does.

Think about it, it contains within its storyline:

1. Enviers, and the envied
2. Freedom followed by slavery, followed by freedom again
3. A crime scene with witnesses (Seduction story)
4. An obsessed lover, and the one being pursued
5. A jail sentence, followed by freedom
6. Famine f...

When reading Surah Yusuf there were many things that caught my eye, it is hard not to be moved by it’s many lessons and it’s gripping emotions of loss, hope, love and mercy. These emotions remind us of our own struggles and challenges and through this story we see that no human is able to move through life without encountering these emotions.

However, what really stood out to me is how there were many times throughout this narrative that Allah ...

Connection between Surah Hud and Surah Yusuf.
'WORSHIP' and 'TAWAKKUL'
It was so amazing while reciting Quran, I noticed that ALLAH ended the surah Hud with the ayah of tawakkul and worshipping Him and then in start of the next surah which is surah Yusuf, mentioned it as the 'ahsan ul qasas/best of the stories'.

Because in this surah ALLAH mentioned the utmost tawakkul, patience and endless hope in ALLAH of Hazrat Yaqoob a.s,
and on the othe...

This is to chasten the Jews that they had tried to test the Messenger of Allah (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) which proved to be in vain, for its effect turned out to be just the reverse of what they had intended. It only went on to prove the excellence and authenticity of the Messenger of Allah (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) in a far more evident manner. From this, it became clear that he was already an Ummiyy and had no knowledge of world history. Now th...See more

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

Today, I met with my Lebanese friend. We were discussing politics and parenting in the West. Both of our eldest children are growing and we were discussing the challenges we are facing bringing up our children against a lot of changes and trials.

So, during my discussion I advised that as parents we must allow our children to come to us to answer any sort of question. Then we ca...

An Islamic wisdom tells us 'No one experiencing sadness will read Surat Yusuf except that they will find relief'. So why Surat Yusuf ?

Amidst all the trials, heartbreak, lies and struggles, Prophet Yusuf continuously and consistently is described as from the 'muhsineen' (those who embody moral excellence).

His brothers throwing him into a well, his separation from his father for decades, his selling into slavery and his persecution in prison f...
