۞ ولو يعجل الله للناس الشر استعجالهم بالخير لقضي اليهم اجلهم فنذر الذين لا يرجون لقاءنا في طغيانهم يعمهون ١١
۞ وَلَوْ يُعَجِّلُ ٱللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ ٱلشَّرَّ ٱسْتِعْجَالَهُم بِٱلْخَيْرِ لَقُضِىَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَجَلُهُمْ ۖ فَنَذَرُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَرْجُونَ لِقَآءَنَا فِى طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ ١١

If Allah were to hasten evil for people1 as they wish to hasten good, they would have certainly been doomed. But We leave those who do not expect to meet Us to wander blindly in their defiance.

لَقُضِيَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَجَلُهُمْ
la-quḍiya ilayhim* ajaluhum
“their time would already be over”
This reading is in the passive voice. *Ḥamzah: ilayhum.
لَقَضَى إِلَيْهِمْ أَجَلَهُمْ
la-qaḍā ilayhim* ajalahum
"He would have brought their time to an end"
This reading is in the active voice, with the pronoun referring back to God in preceding phrase. *Yaʿqūb: ilayhum.
