yaṭhurna
“until they are restored to purity”
i.e. with the ending of their menstrual cycle.
يَطَّهَّرْنَ
yaṭṭahharna
“until they have purified themselves”
i.e. by taking a ritual bath/shower (ghusl) after menstruation has ceased.

وضاحت

The two readings are generally taken to provide the same ruling, because the subsequent phrase fa-idha taṭahharna (‘So when they have purified themselves’) has only this one reading, which describes when it becomes permissible for a man to approach his wife intimately. Therefore, the first reading (including the subsequent phrase) indicates both aspects: the end of menstruation and the ritual bath [Makki].

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
