لَا تَحْسَبَنَّ…فَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّهُمْ
lā taḥsabanna…fa-lā taḥsabannahum*
“(Prophet,) do not think that those who exult… no, do not think they are safe from punishment”
This is a single sentence with the second-person verb repeated to strengthen the meaning. *Note: the reading of al-Kisāʾī, Yaʿqūb and Khalaf is actually with taḥsib rather than taḥsab: they are two linguistic options for the same verb.
لَا يَحْسِبَنَّ…فَلَا يَحْسِبُنَّهُمْ
lā yaḥsibanna…fa-lā yaḥsibunnahum
“Those who exult…should not think…they should not think themselves safe from punishment”
This is a single sentence in the third person, with alladhīna yafraḥūna as the subject of the verb, which is repeated to strengthen the meaning.
لَا يَحْسِبَنَّ…فَلَا تَحْسِبَنَّهُمْ
lā yaḥsibanna…fa-lā taḥsibannahum*
“Those who exult should not think (themselves)…and you (Prophet) should not think them safe from punishment”
In this reading, the first verb has alladhīna yafraḥūna as its subject, and the second is addressed in the second person to the Prophet (ﷺ). *Note: the reading of Ibn ʿĀmir and Abū Jaʿfar is actually with yaḥsab/taḥsab rather than yaḥsib/taḥsib: they are two linguistic options for the same verb.

Shpjegim

These readings are complementary in their meanings [Makki]. Note that some of the readings (variation of yaḥsab/yaḥsib) have been combined here for simplification.

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
