٨١
Quando Deus aceitou a promessa dos profetas, disse-lhes: Eis o Livro e a sabedoria que ora vos entrego. Depois voschegou um Mensageiro que corroborou o que já tendes. Crede nele e socorrei-o. Então, perguntou-lhes: Comprometer-vos-eis a fazê-lo? Responderam: Comprometemo-nos. Disse-lhes, então: Testemunharei, que também serei, convosco, Testemunha disso.

Leituras
لَمَا ءَاتَيْتُكُمْ
la-mā ātaytukum
“When a Messenger comes to you later confirming what you have, i.e. the Scripture and Wisdom I bestowed upon you, you must believe in him”
لَمَا ءَاتَيْنَاكُمْ
la-mā ātaynākum
“....the Scripture and Wisdom We bestowed upon you...”
These readings are the same apart from the singular first-person pronoun vs. the majestic plural. Here, the initial lām indicates an oath for emphasis.
لِمَا ءَاتَيْتُكُمْ
li-mā ātaytukum
“For the fact I bestowed Scripture and Wisdom upon you, and a Messenger then came to you confirming what you have, you must believe in him”
Here the lām indicates the purpose, i.e. they should believe out of gratitude for these favours.

Explicação

These readings are complementary in meaning, and the verse can be interpreted in a number of ways. The translation of the first two readings involves a rearrangement of the phrases to convey the overall meaning [Ibn ‘Ashur].

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
