In this life it is SO easy to switch between being happy and upset at things.

Maybe I'll wake up on the wrong side of bed and feel moody, then feel much better after a nice breakfast but feel upset again because the weather is too cold but feel happy because I met up with good friends, then feel upset again because I felt socially drained at the end of the day, then feel happy because my bed is comfy.

Even if I just became happy from receivin...

﷽

The relentless pursuit of novelty and the insatiable desire for more and more to fulfil oneself inevitably leads to exhaustion.

Despite tirelessly chasing after these fleeting desires, a profound sense of dissatisfaction persists. It's a paradox of modern life - the more we seek to satisfy ourselves, the more discontent we become.

Anas bin Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'If the son of Adam had...

Human life in the world is temporary. Some people were in the world before us. They are not here today. We have come to their place. By placing us in the heart of the green earth, they have gone to that dark world under the ground. Then another group of people is coming forward to occupy our place to protect the eternal laws of nature. And we are gradually moving towards the last address. An eternal game of life-death and coming-and-going ...

The 99 Names of Allah

He is Al-Baasit - the Expander - who can remove even the traces of any constriction we may have felt. The key is to know that after every hardship is ease, as promised in the Qur’an. The Prophet Yusuf alayhi as-salaam (peace be upon him) had to be thrown in a well before coming into the care of the Minister. He had to be put in prison before he was given power and reunited with his family. But he understood that it was from God Almighty and was a...

Exploring the topic of contentment, I searched the Quran for derivatives of the root word (faraha/happy) and found that in the majority of cases, 20 or so instances, it described a negative reaction, such as:

When goodness comes to them after harm has touched him, he is sure to say, 'Misfortune has gone away from me.' He becomes happy and boastful.

Or:
And though they may *revel* in the life of this world, it is but a fleeting comfort compared...
