قال ابشرتموني على ان مسني الكبر فبم تبشرون ٥٤

قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِى عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ ٥٤

قَالَ

اَبَشَّرْتُمُوْنِیْ

عَلٰۤی

اَنْ

مَّسَّنِیَ

الْكِبَرُ

فَبِمَ

تُبَشِّرُوْنَ

۟

Dia (Ibrahim) berkata, "Benarkah kamu memberi kabar gembira kepadaku padahal usiaku telah lanjut, lalu (dengan cara) bagaimana kamu memberi (kabar gembira) tersebut?"

In this reading, there is no suffix and the object is implied.

تُبَشِّرُوْنِ

“What sort of news are you giving me?”

In these two readings, the final vowel indicates the personal pronoun suffix. Each is lightened from tubashshirūnanī.

These readings amount to the same meaning [al-Mahdawi]. NB: the first two readings sound the same when stopping at the end of this ayah.
