وَلَاْ يَأْمُرَكُمْ…أَيَأْمُرُكُمْ
wa-lā yaʾmurakum…a-yaʾmurukum
“...Nor would he order you to take the angels and the prophets as lords”
The first occurrence of the verb is conjoined to the negated subjunctive an yuʾtiyahū in the preceding verse.
وَلَاْ يَأْمُرُكُمْ…أَيَأْمُرُكُمْ
wa-lā yaʾmurukum…a-yaʾmurukum
وَلَاْ يَأْمُرْكُمْ…أَيَأْمُرْكُمْ
wa-lā yaʾmurkum…a-yaʾmurkum*
“He will not order you to take the angels and the prophets as lords”
In this reading, the verse commences a new sentence, hence the indicative verb. Abū ʿAmr’s reading has unvowelled rā’ (or with overshort vowel, ikhtilās) to lighten the pronunciation.

Explanation

These readings amount to the same meaning [al-Mahdawi].

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
